PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for the planning and scheduling of routine maintenance and special projects. This position will assist the Department Foreman in supervision of employees to ensure all tasks and projects completed in timely and thorough manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

            Minimum Education:   

                High school diploma or GED - preferred

 

            Certification / License

                Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

                Journeyman Electrician license- required

           

            Special Knowledge/Skills:

                Experience in planning for multiple crafts, emphasis on Electrical and Low Voltage projects

                Proficient in MS Word, Excel and basic computer skills

                Knowledge of maintenance business processes and best practices and roles of specific

                trades

                Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills

                Flexibility in managing changing priorities and ability to work with minimum supervision

                Demonstrated knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and practices of the department

                Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and field sketches

                Demonstrated project management skills (oral and written)

                Detail oriented

 

            Work Conditions:

                Tools/Equipment Used: Electrical measuring and testing equipment; hand tools; power

                tools; light truck or van
                Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and

                twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
                Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead

                reaching; frequent driving
                Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
                Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to

                extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and

                electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly

                work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
                Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

                Regular attendance is an essential function

                                               

            Minimum Experience:

                Two years maintenance experience- preferred

                Two years’ experience as an Electrical Tradesman- preferred

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Plan maintenance work according to established guidelines. 
  2. Plan and estimates jobs and procure necessary parts and materials to complete work orders. 
  3. Plan and update daily/weekly/shutdown schedules according to procedures.
  4. Review Maintenance requests and document plans, estimates, schedules, Bills of Materials and history.
  5. Field-scope each job to determine repair plan and craft knowledge needed to repair.
  6. Ensure that special skills such as machining, overhauling, rigging, scaffolding, alignment, lock out / tag out procedures are denoted and addressed as part of the job plan.
  7. Inspect faulty equipment and determine sources of problematic or poor quality operation. Consult with individuals and teams to determine and verify that the correct course of action is taken.
  8. Seek out permit authorizations for planned and scheduled work.
  9. Provide drawings, sketches, and manufacturer’s information to the craftsmen.
  10. Read and interpret typical drawings.
  11. Requisition materials and or special tools/ equipment needed to complete the work.
  12. Understand the function of common shop equipment and tools. Share knowledge and experience with others; train other personnel as required.  
  13. Provide assistance/work with mechanical technicians, operations, and management as needed.
  14. Survey and inspect facilities for needed repairs, generate work orders to have the needed repairs scheduled, review/revise specific Job Procedures as needed.  
  15. Perform and assume emergency response responsibilities if assigned as part of the job position.
  16. Maintainsequipment information and repair files.
  17. Assist other maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and research.
  18. Work directly with production personnel to isolate and repair equipment problems.
  1. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  2. Provide training and orientation to all grounds personnel in safety procedures and proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  3. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  4. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  5. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  6. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  7. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations, and local board policy.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
