PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, provide security and technical assistant for District properties and assist in loss prevention due to theft or vandalism
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong analytical, organization, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work effectively with students and adults
Work Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle, two-way radio, alarm systems and other security equipment, fire suppression systems, standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals, video/instructional equipment
Posture: Sitting and standing for prolonged periods
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; reaching
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)
Environment: Work prolonged and irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond to needs in a timely manner in a high stress environment
Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
Regular Attendance is an essential function
Minimum Experience:
Two years’ experience in a safety or security related field
Preferred: experience with alarm systems
Preferred: experience with video surveillance systems
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Respond to all alarm calls during assigned shift.
- Monitor video surveillance and respond if needed.
- Respond to all fire alarm calls during assigned shift.
- Security presence during extracurricular bus arrivals or afterhours events as needed.
- Maintain a visible presence at campuses.
- Provide updated road conditions during inclement weather during assigned shift.
- Direct trained staff to respond to dangerous situations due to suspected criminal activity.
- Perform scheduled tests on alarms and check motion sensors.
- Conduct an audit on security camera system to ensure cameras are functioning properly.
- Conduct audits of outside lighting to ensure proper functionality.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
