Open Until Filled

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE: 

Receive and check-in books, audiovisuals, and computer software for elementary, middle school, and high school libraries.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

      Minimum Education/Certification: 

            High school diploma or equivalent

            Library Technical Assistance training - preferred

           

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

            Strong communication, public relations, organizational skills

            Computer skills are mandatory

            Proficient skills in typing

            Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills

            Ability to shelve books following district cataloging system

            Ability to work well with children

            Effective, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

            Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

 

      Physical and Mental Abilities

            Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals;

             standard library equipment

             including imaging equipment; standard instructional equipment

             Posture: Regular sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling,

             and twisting

             Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular overhead

             reaching; climbing ladders

             Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and

             carrying (up to 40 pounds)

             Environment: Work inside; work alone; exposure to biological and chemical hazards such as

             mold and dust

             Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruption; maintain emotional control under stress

             Regular attendance is an essential function

           

      Minimum Experience:

            One or more years working in a Harrington Library Consortium library is preferred.

                       

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Work closely with Purchasing, vendors, librarians, other Library Center staff in the acquisition of materials.
  2. Complete technical processing as required for each item according to library profiles.
  3. Receive all shipments of library materials. Maintain accurate records of orders.
  4. Verify purchase orders on all materials.
  5. Check shipment for damaged material; contact vendors to claim if necessary.
  6. Do complete technical processing as required by each item.
  7. Work with classifiers to initiate download of MARC records, check records for accuracy.
  8. Clean and repair damaged books sent in from schools.
  9. Communicate with librarian and Shipping and Receiving Department to arrange for shipment.
  10. Pack and re-shelve campus library collections as necessary for remodeling and/or library routine weeding.
  11. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  12. Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  13. Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
