PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Manage student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the division

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification: 

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Some College Hours- preferred

           

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of instructional practices in a school setting

Ability to follow lesson a plan

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students and community members

Conflict resolution skills

Discipline management skills

Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds

Technology skills preferred

 

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress; must wear professional attire                         

 

Minimum Experience:

Prior employment experience working with school-aged children- preferred

Prior exoerience working in a school setting-preferred

           

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
  2. Maintain a discipline and classroom control that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
  3. Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  5. Report to office upon arrival at school; check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
  6. Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
  7. Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
  8. Organize students for effective instruction.
  9. Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
  10. Collect and place students’ papers in regular teacher’s desk.
  11. Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.
  12. Determine if his/her services will be required for the next school day.
  13. Comply with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
  14. Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities; Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  15. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
