MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF EDUCATION SHOWING GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Lead student study groups in order to improve academic achievement for students. This position is supplemental to locally funded positions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:       

High school diploma and some college hours preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Effective verbal and written communications skills as well as a high degree of literacy and higher order thinking skills

Must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgement are required

Work effectively and harmoniously with students and school personnel is essential

Ability to instruct a small group of students

Working knowledge of the grade level(s)/subject(s) assigned

 

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office/educational equipment including personal computer, tablets, Smart Board, etc.

Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing and walking; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions in a variety of educational settings and maintain professional demeanor under stress; Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise

Regular attendance is an essential function.   

 

Minimum Experience:

Experience working with school age students is preferred.  This experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, athletics, private schools, or similar experiences.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  1. Comply with the guidelines of the Extended School Day Program
  2. Provide direct instruction to assigned students
  3. Plan for lessons to be taught in small or individual groups.
  4. Lead study groups using appropriate methodologies.
  5. Analyze individual student progress.
  6. Develop and maintains resources to support the students.
  7. Participate in tutor training and staff development.
  8. Establish with students a rapport that is friendly, but not familiar.
  9. Serve as role models for students.
  10. Keep the teacher informed of student progress.
  11. Keep the teacher informed of interactions with students.
  12. Be flexible in working with all students.
  13. Share in typing, duplicating, and record-keeping duties of the program.
  14. Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  15. Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities; Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  16. Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  17. Performs such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
