PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the District

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Currently enrolled at WTAMU (Classroom Management) 

 or

Currently enrolled in the Texas Tech 2+1 Program

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of assigned curriculum; knowledge of instructional methods

Lesson planning skills

Lesson presentation skills

Conflict resolution skills

Classroom management skills

Group interaction skills

Technology skills preferred

 

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress; must be able to work flexible hours including summer and evening work; must wear professional attire    

Work required number of days according to WT Classroom Management Course   

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
  2. Maintain a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
  3. Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  5. Report to office upon arrival at school; checks mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; requests clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
  6. Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
  7. Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
  8. Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
  9. Collect and place students’ papers.
  10. Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.
  11. Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
  12. Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
  14. Participate in AISD Substitute Teacher staff development.
  15. Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
