PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and to develop in each student an understanding of the skills necessary for a specific occupation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned Knowledge or experience in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program for Engineering General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Proficient in the effective use of tools and technology used in the occupational field Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Technology skills as related to classroom presentation and record keeping Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms Ability to support students with computer set-up, navigation, and technology issues
Work Conditions Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; equipment required to demonstrate and perform tasks related to assigned career and technical education subject area Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 50 lbs.; may lift and move textbooks, classroom equipment, and other tools and equipment in the classroom Environment: May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; around machinery with moving parts; may be exposed to electrical hazards; regular exposure to noise Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond to needs in a timely manner in a high stress environment; work prolonged or irregular hours Regular Attendance is an essential function

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Responsibilities 1. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned. 2. Develop outlets for internships and apprenticeships. 3. Develop and maintain a network of advisors to help keep the curriculum fresh and relevant, and to stay current in industry trends. 4. Take an active role in recruitment of new students in the program. Instructional Strategies 5. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and reflect accommodations for differences in individual students. 6. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that meet the needs of students. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. 7. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). 8. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Student Growth and Development 9. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study. 10. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and summative assessments and track progress through a variety of methods. 11. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the school. 12. Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district. 13. Create an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Classroom Management and Organization 14. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, appropriate for high school students, and where possible simulates a workplace site in the career. 15. Establish effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, administrative regulations, and campus management plans. 16. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 17. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. 18. Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other documents related to local, state and federal requirements. Communication 19. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents. 20. Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. 21. Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or district-approved website. 22. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members through effective communication both verbally and written. 23. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development 24. Participate in the district staff development program to improve job related skills. 25. Participate and positively contribute to grade level and campus level collaboration. 26. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement. 27. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. 28. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations. 29. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. 30. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities and serve on staff committees as required. Other 31. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. 32. Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned. 33. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
