DIPLOMA, GED Certificate OR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE UPLOADED
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the pre-kindergarten teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate activities and learning environment inside and outside of the classroom in order that students may learn effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma & meet the District’s formal academic assessment required by Every Student Succeeds Act
Associates (or higher) degree OR 48 college credit hours
Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
Meet the rigorous standard of quality required by the district
Special Knowledge/Skills
The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with students, parents and school personnel is essential.
The abilities to willingly follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgment are required.
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Classroom materials
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)
Environment: May work in outside conditions
Minimum Experience:
Experience working with students and parents is preferred. This experience may be work in church-related
school day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care or similar experiences
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
- Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
- Helps maintain individual records for each child.
- Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
- Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
- Assists with the supervision of children during lunch and outside periods.
- Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays
